Ty... Really?!

Why... is Ty Pennington selling baby formula?? This makes absolutely no sense to me at all. I'm just saying.

One Stop... Furniture and a Tan

As I read through the little county newspaper... sifting through all the Gun and Knife show, livestock, and exotic dancer ads... I came across this little gem of a store.

In case it is a little fuzzy... yes it is a dual advertisement for furniture and tanning. It's just so funny because I was just thinking about getting a tan the last time I was shopping for a new dresser!?!?

So I guess that there is that.

What a weekend!

I am so lucky!! I have such amazing friends and it is always wonderful to be able to get together and just spend time together. Since we all are moving around and are no longer in close proximity to each other it is harder to carve out time to get together. This weekend we were able to make it work... and it was fabulous!!

We first went to a beading store where we made a air of earrings and then made duplicates of that earring for each friend. We then went to dinner and then finally made it to the Counting Crows/ Maroon 5 concert. HOW FUN!

The Counting Crows were okay... I have now seen them twice... and both times Adam Duritz has been smashed to the point of incoherence. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Maroon 5 concert. They were so polished and really, really great. Adam Levine was even a little hot... I honestly never thought that would be possible, who knew?! Here is a you tube clip of one of my favorite parts... (forgive the quality)

Now... here is a little quiz. I am going to post photos... albeit, bad ones... and you have to match the set of earrings to the designer. I will include initials and a short personality blurb... if that helps. My husband was even able to match them.. so it should be fairly easy!

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

These are very simplistic definitions. I could begin each one with extremely smart, beautiful and overall amazing.

TG... Professional writer. Caring and Supportive.
TC... Technical Writer. Thoughtful and Talented.
HS... Pursuing PhD. Practical, Savvy, and Cultured.
SW... Burden to husband. Outspoken and Fun.
JB... Writer and Teacher. Reserved and Romantic.
AJ... Marketing and Communications. Patient and Good hearted.

I hate bugs!

So... Missouri is very beautiful with the rolling hills, lakes and abundant trees. However, I have reached my limit with all of the bugs. They are everywhere. They are HUGE and most of the time they are unidentifiable.

Here is a bug's exoskeleton... yes it is now bigger!!! UGHH!

This is a spider that set up house in a tree right outside our condo.. in about 2 hours. It was not there when we left for soccer.. but it was there and heaving (I'm sure it had a billion babies ready to greet the world)when we came back.

Here is the kicker...we have two huge ponds on our house lot and they will attract and produce more bugs that I care to think about. I may spend a lot of time enjoying Missouri beauty from the heavily insecticided inside of my house.

Anyone tired of these clips yet? I just had to share. The rising tide of Hypocrisy is astounding!!

Fair and Balanced?!

I LOVE Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert! They make me laugh... a lot! So I had to post this little nugget from last night's Colbert Report that talked about Michelle Obama's Speech and the coverage after. I felt that it tied in nicely to my last blog and to the question of WHY,oh why do people (in this case Fox News) have to lie and/ or put words in their mouths if the case against Obama is so strong?!

** Note to Neil. Keep it short and I may even read the rant!!

Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful....

This election is very important and I am excited because I feel that our choices are pretty good. I have a great deal of respect for John McCain and for Barak Obama. I think that they both have good intentions and will do what they feel is best for the country, which is a welcome change from the current Presidency's self serving agenda.
You expect the commentators on both sides of the spectrum to come up with talking points why one should or shouldn't be elected. I find it completely respectable to disagree with a person's voting record... or with a particular plan that you don't like in order to vote against someone or for someone for that matter.
Although, I am so offended by someone that says that they are not voting for a person because of "insert ridiculous lie or scare tactic mentioned in the last radio talk show". I have heard the most ridiculous things as of late about why people are not/ should not vote for Barak Obama. Seriously... can you not find something of real substance to talk about on these radio shows that you need to resort to complete fiction? The most shocking thing is that people... smart, educated people... buy into this crap. My husband came home and said that while at work "people" were talking about how we shouldn't vote for Obama because in the scriptures it says that the devil will ride in on a white horse... and Obama's mother was white. Are you kidding me?! This stuff makes me crazy!! Not because people say it... there will always be idiots spouting hate and bigotry... but that people actually will listen to it and spread it around as if it were true.
At a hospital I would expect that they would be more concerned with his Health Care plan and maybe that would be an interesting topic to get behind... but what do I know?

A fond farewell to my favorite show... until next time!

So last night was the end... ant least until next summer. Oh, how I love "So You Think You Can Dance". It is such an amazing show. There is all this attention on artists that are rarely recognized. American Idol is all about the singers... which is fine... but this is so great because you not only spotlight the amazing dancers and their crazy talent, but you also get to spotlight the wicked awesome choreographers. It makes household names of these artists that have previously been unrecognized. I also think it is great because it can really spotlight a song that I would never take notice of. Whether it be an unknown artist or a very popular artist that I would normally stay away from. I just love it.
So here is a really fun article on ew.com that runs through their favorites from the last 4 seasons. It is a good place to start for those that have never seen it... but you should see the group routines...AMAZING!! (You will have to cut and paste to your browser... since I cannot figure out how to make a link, yet)
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20217423,00.html?iid=top25-20080808-%27SYTYCD%27%3A+15+greatest+routines

This are two of my favorites that did not make the ew list.. so I thought I would paste it here... enjoy!
The first is a Shane Sparks routine (missed him this year) for the top 16 of the second season. Music is classic!!

The next is another Shane Sparks routine to Neyo (I would have never listened to this... but it is now on my ipod because of this dance) Allison and Ivan from the second season were so fun in this.

Parades v. Fireworks

So what is your favorite? After attending both this past weekend I have decided that I have just about had it with the parades. For the first time in Idaho Falls they did away with throwing candy! What is that about? That was the most fun of the parades! So now we just sit there in the Sun with impatient children watching politicians wave from their cheesy convertibles and bad high school bands with matching cheerleaders. UUGHH.
Fireworks still payoff... but it is still pretty rough with the small kids to wait for hours... but they enjoy it when it all goes down... or up rather. Here is one of my favorite comedians giving his opinion of just this question. I love it!

Packing/ Moving... Fun Times

As I pack up and find all of the lost remotes, I have a chance to reflect a little. It is stressful... but at the same time really nice to get things organized.
Part of me would just love to throw out everything and start from scratch (especially with all the stuff in the kitchen, seriously packing up cheap dishes is a joke. We should just get new ones!).
How many crappy toys do my children own that they never play with?

I should be used to it. We have moved 7 times in the last 10 years, but I'm not. This is a harder move than usual. I am leaving a great group of friends that have been an amazing support to me. I am moving to a new tiny town that I am not completely behind. I am taking my children away from good Friends. I just hope and pray that we can adjust. Truth is I am plain scared! I am scared for my children and for me. I am sure that there is a reason that we are moving there... I just don't know it yet.

Wish me luck!

This would be the car for Richard....IN HELL!

So here is the thing about Richard... He HATES, HATES, HATES stickers or generally anything that has properties of sticking. Most of all he hates band-aids, dirty ones that always tend to fall off in showers or around pools. They really freak him out(I know... funny thing for a doctor...), but that is neither here nor there!

I saw this car today in a parking lot, I have no doubt that the owner was out looking for the next thing that he could stick on his car. I guess everyone does have their something. At least it makes him easy to shop for!

*Quick, funny related story:
In my daughter's class a child sent in really fancy, glittery stickers... only they didn't have enough for all the kids, they were one short. So quickly my daughter chimmed in and let them know that she did not need a sticker, because her dad would make her throw it in the garbage if he caught her with it. HA! Poor girl!

A new set of Stationary

I found this little gem of a stationary web site that I just had to share. So if you go to prettybitter.com. You can see all the fun stuff that it has to offer.

For instance you can get gift tag stickers that read" Warning: May cause Homosexual Tendencies."

Or the "Man Notes" That point out that writing notes is already emasculating enough...

Or the Sentimental Cards that are laugh out loud hysterical... if you read them.

*Warning... this little stationary store is not your average Hallmark offerings. But if you dare...they will make you laugh and you may find the perfect card for that special someone.

Guns or Gas?!

So here is another reason for me to get excited about our move....

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/05/22/nagus.guns.or.gas.kmbc

This was a headlining story today on CNN. Now this is just great. If you listen to this story you hear that everyone here just loves their guns! AWESOME!!
Yes that is right... when you buy a car from the dealership you can have your choice between gas or a semi-automatic handgun!

For the record this town is 39 miles from where we are moving.
So I guess that I am forewarned!

Case and Point!

Now I have said it before... even blogged about it... but I will say it again.
West Virginians are frightning!!! Seriously! Are you kidding?! You have to see this!

So am I crazy?!?!

Who is it?

This photo is of a couple of boys I saw while hanging out with the family at the park. Can you guess who I thought of? *Disclaimer... The first photo is stalker like... so the quality is not so good.

For the second photo, we literally chased them down and I said,
"Do you know who you remind me of?"

Boys: "Uh, Rob and Big."

Me: "Totally!!! Can I take your photo?"

So they agreed and were pretty excited. I love Rob and Big... It's nice to see that the stereotype of skinny white skater with big black guy is alive and well.

Scream Queen Meets A UFO

It has been one of those weeks! It started out fine... I was on the treadmill getting my jog on... when all of the sudden smoke starts billowing out of my tv, that I might add was NOT ON! I yelled at my husband to come and help me take it down and figure out what the deal was. It freaked me out sufficiently... so I was going to call my workout good... but my husband told me to keep going, it was just a fluke and tv's burn out. (Okay, But aren't they usually on when they burn out? I'm just saying.)
So against my better judgement, I start to jog again. I'm one and a half miles in to my 2 mile run and the treadmill is set at a brisk "8", when all of the sudden the treadmill goes crazy!!! Seriously, it started to speed up faster, faster, faster... I push stop... it won't stop! Now this is when it happened, I have no idea where it came from, I started screaming. Not like I have ever screamed before! It was like I was being chased by Neo Cons in a nightmare, scream!
For the rest of the day I was shaky... It was not like I thought the treadmill was all turning into a Steven King novel villian, it just freaked me out!

Now on to the later part of the week. I have felt AWFUL! Just yucky. Nothing in particular, just aches and a high UFO... okay it is actually a FUO (Fever of Unidetified Origin, I just liked using the UFO acronym better.)! So to add to things that I have never done before.. I woke up soaking wet with sweat! Gross, I know! UGghh... It has just been one of those weeks.

It's a different world

So I pick my eight year old up from school and she says to me, "My friend's dad had surgery on his hips so that he can be a mom now."
ME:(!?!?)Trying to play it cool... "What? Really?"
Whit: "Yep, He has mom parts now."
ME: (Second Grade... Really) "Hmmm..."

Now I know that conversation is not going to win me mother of the year but...
How do you react to that?! Seriously?!

Once she was out of the car I called as many people that I could. See that is my reaction... WTF!!

I am not really worried about Whit... she is a mellow kid and I can talk to her, if I need to explain, or whatever... but I feel for the little second grade friend. Can you imagine trying to handle that?

Where has all the Good TV gone?

I am a defender of television! I really enjoy it. It really gets to me when people bag on the television. It makes me feel bad and wonder how crappy thier childhood was. There is great programing out there... Friday Night Lights, I swear I watch it and it makes me want to be a better mom... Dexter, where else do you root for a serial killer?... Arrested Development, Funniest. Show. Ever!...Food TV... HGTV... and just about any procedural, it's like comfort food.

Unfortunetly, the TV is becoming a scary place. VH1 used to be a fun safe destination... not now. I am afraid I'll catch a STD by watching (Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, I Love New York... Ugh! Not to mention the child expoitive shows like Make my Child a Star). It's not limited to reality either. Have you seen FX lately. I'm all for unorthodox... but Nip Tuck, Dirt, and the rest are just sensational (and not in a good way).

Finding good TV is harder to do these days. How many channels have to carry the WWF Raw? Poker... on Game Show net, Bravo and ESPN?! Really?!
I guess it is a good thing. I can read more, be more productive and spend more time with my family, so there's that. Yet I miss the good old days.

So what are your Favorites? And your Least Favorites?

Watch your back in West Virginia

So we took a drive to Washington D.C. from St. Louis. It was a really great trip with the family... which is saying something since it was all six of us in the car for the vast majority of the vacation.
The drive was interesting to say the least. We took the Northern route to DC and the Southern route on the way back to St. Louis. There were many pretty places that we passed and many not so pretty areas.

I have to say that West Virgina was by far the worst state that we drove through. I had high hopes for it... I expected mountains, hills and greenery. It was so... what is the word... um... Dirty. The pollution factories have set up in force. We ended up having to stop near the border of Kentucky... we couldn't make it any further without stopping... and we really tried! We could not get out of there any sooner than we did.

It is then I decided that every scary movie was conceived in West Virginia. (Really... Wrong turn was based in West Virginia and I now believe that this is non-fiction!) Seriously, I could practically hear the Deliverance dueling banjos, I was sure the Hills Have Eyes, not to mention that scary movie that Al Gore was in!

So I guess if you have the opportunity... pass on West Virginia. My apologies to the West Virginia board of Tourism, but enjoy the inbreeding!

Just in case you missed this...

When I was growing up there was nothing that I loved to do more than lock myself in my bedroom and dance! I know it was really nerdy... but I loved it. I grew up in the 1980's and the music was the BEST dance music out there (I'd love for someone to argue with me). How excited am I to see that Michael Jackson's 25th Anniversary Thriller Album is here... SO EXCITED! Say what you will about MJ's Personal life... but the man is a legendary entertainer.

So add the fact that MTV has this little show called America's Best Dance Crew and that all of the dance "crews" had to dance to a Thriller song... this was some of the best TV in a long time. Especially for the young girl in me that still remembers how much fun it was to dance to these songs when they first came out. I am posting my favorite group on here... watch the crazy crotch grab at the end. You should see what the rest of the groups did... just wicked awesome (Nerdy... already noted)! I think I may lock my bedroom door and try to learn the dance... maybe with out the gratuitous grab.

I Am Too Young for This Crap!

I go from being confused for a teenager into an 80 year old codger! I totally threw out my back this last week. I swear that I could not bend forward without crying out in pain. That Sucks!
I don't even know exactly what happened. All I know is that one night after a good week of hard exercise, I was sitting at the computer and BAM... My back was screaming at me. It has been such a great excuse for me to sit around and do nothing... not that I do a whole heck of a lot anyway (As My husband will attest to). But I could not even bend over to pick up my poor little boy.
At least he is getting around pretty good and climbs on everything. He is alomst self sufficient at 17 months old. HA! That says quite a bit about my child care... or lack thereof.
Seriously... I am now down to about 1 muscle relaxer a day and even did a little dancing with the kids last night. Good times!

A Senior totally asked me to dance!!!

So I like, totally went to the mini youth conference yesterday. It was sooo much fun! It was totally spiritual and stuff. The dance was the best part though! I mean this guy, he was totally a senior. How do I know? Because, like his shirt said so ("Senior '08"). Anyway, he totally asked me to dance!

Okay now seriously, I am 31 years old. I have four children. The oldest is starting middle school next year. I have no illusions about my age and I try to act it, most of the time. So it surprised me as much as anyone else that a boy almost half my age asked me to dance. I don't know what to say...It's flattering... but at the same time frightning. I was the freakin' chaparone!! I was out there with the girls and trying to convince them to branch out and find someone to dance with and all of the sudden I'm Mrs. Robinson!

So, what did I say?! HA! I took his shoulder.... and the young woman's next to me and said, "No! But she can". So today I took some teasing from the parents of the youth that were there... what can you do?

Now, I still am not sure what the deal was. Is he a chubby chaser? Was it a bet? Does he need a good eye exam? I am not sure... but it sure did wonders for a soccer mom's self esteem.

Love Me Dead

I happen to LOVE music so much. A few years ago my friend "Swishy" had some tickets to get into a free concert for the NCAA Final Four Playoff activities... crap, I cannot even remember the headliner of the concert... they were some Christian rock band turned pop-rock. It was not an awesome band, but we had so much fun at this concert. The drunks, the Christian rock fans, and the PDA couple were great.

The greatest thing that happened at the concert was my introduction to a great little band. LUDO! They opened for the unnamed group and they were so much fun. They had songs like "Girls on Trampolines" and "Good Will Hunting By Myself". I don't think I had ever heard such a funny entertaining group before this. Swishy and I even got our picture on thier web-site from this concert. I cannot find the photo right now... or you would now be looking at Swishy and I from the backside. I guess they said let's go find some random hot chicks rocking out to us. HA!

Anyway... they are up for some contest at MTV-U. You could vote (http://www.mtvu.com/music/freshmen/) for them if you like... but I just wanted to post thier new video for any and all to enjoy. It makes me laugh. Again, the lyrics are just funny. How many of you have been in an awful relationship like this one? Too Funny! Well... Enjoy!!

White tee, no bra and it's freezing!

I wasn't sure who was more embarrassed me or the police officers....
So, it was a first for me. Someone called the cops. Yep. They came; they banged on the doors... of which I ignored the first three times. I know! Really what was I thinking?!

Unfortunately it was not due to some wild sex, crazy- out of control party, or domestic disturbance. It was the run of the mill "my child just dialed 911".
So my baby boy has learned how to use the telephone. Of course the first real call he makes is to the popo. Of course I do not notice that he actually dialed it because I am too interested in my MTV show and have locked my bedroom door because my husband is in the basement running on the treadmill with the surround sound on. I did hear the pounding and just assumed that my husband decided to do a little more work on finishing the basement (not unusual even at 11 pm).

I did not even check on the noise until after the third and potential door breaking pound. I went to the door, in my PJ's, a little freaked out now because I still have no idea why they are here. Maybe there was a meth house bust down the road... I don't know!

Police officer says, "Can I come inside?"

Me, "Uh, yeah."

PO, “We got a 911 call from this residence."

Me, "Oh! Huh, Jackson... come here!"
Jackson runs to the stairs and is all smiles. "I guess that he called."

PO, (now looking at the floor, because, like I said, I am wearing my Pj's and the top happens to be a white tee and it was freezing with the door open, can I paint a better picture?!) " Yeah, Okay, try to teach him not to call 911."

Me, "Uh,Okay. You need to see anything else?" (and yes I really did say that because the pounding of the surround sound bass and the treadmill were pretty loud.)

PO, " NO! Uh, you have a good night." And he hustled out the door.

So here is the thing, what if I was a total crazy torturing someone in my basement? All I would have to do is show a little nipple and embarrass the cop into not asking any questions? I mean, really?

Turned out to be an eventful night at my house!

Super Fat Tuesday!

Yeah!! It is Super Tuesday! I love politics and this Super Tuesday has turned into the most Super Fat Tuesday ever! It could not be closer in the Democrat race and the Republicans are looking scared. Not that I am all about the Dems... but I mean it serves those Republicans right to have backed a Jackass like Bush for 8 years! Now they are stuck... the party is all over the place. They do not know what to do... McCain is all but assured to get the nomination and the conservative right is having fits! Just take a listen to any of the Conservative talk show hosts. Ahhh... I love it.
So who is it going to be for the Dems? I gotta say, I love Obama. He is the "Change" that America needs right now. I am not thrilled about the idea of another Clinton Presidency... not necessarily about the politics... but that the two of them are ethically and morally challenged in so many areas. However... as long as we get away from the Mad Cowboy presidency I will be happy.
I hope everyone does a little celebrating this evening... after all it is Fat Tuesday too! So enjoy in excess tonight! I will enjoy my excess on CNN and laugh my ass off as I watch the Fox News Network Coverage!

A wasted day!

I spent the entire day yesterday cleaning up a bedroom. The crappy thing is that it wasn't even mine it is my daughter's shared bedroom. It is unbelievable how much crap children can accumulate in so few years. So why did I do this? Is it because I am such an enabling mother that I clean so my children do not have to? Because I couldn't stand the mess any more and it needed to be cleaned for sanitary purposes? Or because it had something to do with our moving in a few months? No, no, and no. I mean seriously I am too lazy to really do it for any of those reasons.
It was because the night before I was tucking my youngest daughter in to bed on the lower bunk of a set of bunk beds and I hit my head on the upper bunk so hard that I actually blacked out for a split second. This was the first time I hit my head that hard. I mean I have had some pretty good bonks in my life. For instance, while holding a 4x8 board up while my husband was building a deck another 4x8 fell directly on my head. But this was an awesome head bonk. Anyway, I was so mad I started swearing at my husband (who insisted that they be stacked in bunks) that I hated the bunk beds and that they must be taken down! I know... totally bitchy... but in my defense, my head really hurt. So my husband, knowing that I might really hurt something or break something if I tried to take them down myself, came up and took the bunk beds apart. The room was so messy though; that we had to push clothes and toys out of the way to make the beds fit. Now this is a good sized room... so the beds should have fit fine, but they didn't. So this is why I cleaned all day....to make two beds fit in a room that they should have fit in anyway. It was a complete waste of a good day. I did not accomplish anything else... unless you count watching episode 2 of the Gauntlet 3 an accomplishment. Yeah, I didn't think so either.

My Oasis of Entertainment

I hate the Strike! I really do. I wish I could just enjoy my new episodes of Pushing Daisies or CSI. I mean I still have new episodes of Friday Night Lights (sub-par episodes compared to last season... but still, they are new.) so I shouldn't complain to loudly... But c'mon! I cannot watch another episode of Singing Bee, Smarter than a 5th Grader, Deal or No Deal. Even the best of them, American Idol... (of which I stopped watching Fantasia's year... because I still do not get her) is making me crazy. As scripted as "reality TV" is... I miss the real stuff.
But something happened last night, that made me forget about evil production companies and the underpaid writers... The Gauntlet 3 started!!

My husband reminds me that it is the most obnoxious immoral television there is, which is true... and probably the reason I love it!! You could not script characters like these... Coral, Beth, CT, Kenny! Oh, I could just watch the re-runs all day, and I will! When you get gems like the self-absorbed Kenny the only guy in the house not getting any action... it is the best. And the stunts! Seriously Fear Factor has nothing on them... these kids really get hurt!
So Thank You MTV for easing my Strike woes!

Yep... It has been forever!

Alrighty... so I haven't posted... in a very long time! So my New Years resolution ( as long as I am not to late for that!) is to blog at least once a week. That said, I think that I will talk about this Private school that I am being pressured into putting my children in. Really... High pressure sales tactics. Calling me everyday pressure.
Okay, this is the story. My family is relocating to a tiny (10,000 people, tiny) town in the Midwest. Now this is a long story in and of itself... maybe later on that! This small town is really quite nice. There are many amenities considering the size, one of them is a private Christian school. Let me say I have absolutely nothing against Christian schools... we happen to be of a Christian faith... but I am not sure I love the idea of mixing church and school just yet. Preachy and judgemental are not the life lessons I want my elementary school aged kids to get as they approach middle and high school. The other issue that I have is that the place looks like a complete compound! WACO style compound, as my friend Swishy says. Seriously, the tin roof building is frightening. Plus I have to pay a considerable amount of money to send my kids there. So how do I tell these nice people that I do not want to attend their school? We go this weekend for a tour of the schools. Pray for me, on second thought... don't!
